Why we still do it this way

In a lot of clinics the therapist sees you once, then an assistant takes over. We never switched to that model. The same licensed therapist treats you, hands on, every visit.

About the clinic

A clinic built around one-on-one care.

Hiten Davé opened this practice in Pleasanton in 1985. Forty-one years on, it is still owned and run by the clinicians who work here. It is also a Graston Technique® Preferred Provider.

25 minutes one-on-one

Every follow-up includes 25 minutes with your licensed therapist. Aides help with setup and exercises. They don't stand in for your therapist.

Treatment on day one

Evaluation and hands-on treatment happen in the same first visit. You don't leave with only an appointment card.

The founder

Forty-one years in practice, still treating patients.

Hiten Davé, MSPT, graduated from Northwestern University's physical therapy program in 1984 and opened Back On Track in Pleasanton in 1985. The practice grew to Walnut Creek in 2004 and now runs five clinics across the East Bay. He still sees patients here every week and speaks English, Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi.

Decades of treating stubborn, recurring musculoskeletal problems shaped how the whole team works: hands-on, one therapist per patient, treatment from the first visit. Hiten created the Spring Stretch method, trains the clinicians here in it, and presents on manual therapy at physical therapy conferences in the US and abroad.

Questions patients ask first

Straight answers before you book.

Can't find yours? Call the front desk on (925) 426-6986 and a therapist can usually answer it on the phone.

Do I need a doctor's referral?+

No. California is a direct-access state, so you can book directly. A small number of plans, including some HMOs, still require a referral for the visits to be covered. We check this when we verify your benefits and tell you before you come in.

How long is an appointment?+

The first visit runs about an hour and includes the evaluation and your first treatment. Follow-ups run 30 to 60 minutes, with 25 of those minutes one-on-one with your therapist.

Will I see the same therapist every time?+

That's how we schedule. If your therapist is away, another Pleasanton DPT covers with full notes.

How many visits will I need?+

It depends on the problem and how long you've had it. Vertigo often resolves in one to four visits; a post-surgical knee is a longer road. Your therapist gives you an expected number at the end of your evaluation and adjusts it as you progress.

What if I don't have insurance?+

Self-pay patients are welcome and no referral is required. Call the front desk for current rates.

What should I wear and bring?+

Clothes you can move in that allow access to the area that hurts. Bring photo ID, your insurance card, a list of medications, and any braces or imaging you have. New-patient forms are on the patient portal.
